7 tips for creating content for Instagram

Updated: Mar 14, 2023

Are you stuck in an instagram content rut? Creating engaging content on an ongoing basis can be hard, especially when the platform is constantly evolving, so if you are feeling a bit lost follow the seven tips below:

#1. Plan your content:

Set time aside each month to brainstorm and come up with a list of content ideas. And keep a note of things that inspire you, as well as upcoming holidays, national days and key events that you can create content around.

#2. Be authentic:

Create content that is unique to you and your brand, and keep it real. This will help you to build trust with your audience, which is important for building an engaged community.

#3. Know your audience:

Consider your audience and what they expect to see from you. Why are they following you and what do they find engaging and valuable?

#4. Quality over quantity:

Instagram is a visual platform, so invest time into sharing good quality videos and images and sharing content you know your audience will find valuable.

#5. Create varied content:

To keep it interesting, mix the different content types including reels, videos, static image posts, carousels, Stories, IGTV, Live and stickers. Experiment with the different mediums and content types to see what resonates with your audience the most.

#6. Look at your insights:

The best way to create compelling content, is to look at what content is resonating with your audience the most. Use the built-in insights section on Instagram to see which posts have performed the best and let this guide the content you create.

#7. Be consistent:

This is key and I talk about it all the time, but make sure you show up regularly to keep at the top of your audience’s mind. If you can’t post to your feed daily, utilise Stories. There are a lot of great Stories features that will help you grow your following and engage with your community; and the great thing about Stories is that content can be far more organic and doesn’t have to be as polished.
